IP cameras, video doorbells, NVRs, PoE switches and routers
Research network camera equipment for Windows-based monitoring and recording. Browse common hardware categories, manufacturer references, connection methods and installation considerations before choosing devices.
Camera types
Bullet, dome, turret, PTZ, fisheye, panoramic, Wi-Fi, PoE, battery-powered and video-doorbell cameras use different connection and recording methods.
Networking
A router, managed or unmanaged PoE switch, Ethernet cabling, Wi-Fi access point, VLAN, NVR or NAS may form part of a camera installation.
Discovery and streaming
ONVIF Profile T, RTSP and vendor-approved APIs can help devices interoperate when supported and properly configured. Individual features still require testing.

Camera connection standards and questions
- Check exact interfaces: Does the device document ONVIF, RTSP, a local video endpoint, or a manufacturer-provided partner API?
- Confirm authentication: What accounts, passwords, tokens, TLS settings, permissions and firmware versions are needed?
- Plan the network: Check PoE power budget, wired or Wi-Fi bandwidth, router/firewall rules, switch VLANs and storage requirements.
- Verify actual software operation: Test camera discovery, authorized login, live view, recording, timestamps, playback and any required PTZ or motion events in the release being used.
See the official ONVIF Profile T reference and Profile S deprecation and security notice.
Frequently asked questions
Will every listed camera work in Security-Aware?
No. This list is a manufacturer reference only. Availability of local feeds, authentication, and official integrations depends on the exact model, firmware, software version and manufacturer policies.
Do network routers or PoE switches connect directly to Security-Aware?
Routers and switches provide IP network connectivity. They are infrastructure components, not cameras; being listed here does not mean Security-Aware controls or directly integrates with their management interfaces.
Will Ring doorbells or cloud cameras work?
Some cloud-controlled products require explicit authorization, approved partner APIs and vendor agreement. No Ring integration is claimed on this page.
What should be verified before buying hardware?
Compare device and firmware documentation, power, network interfaces, supported protocols, authentication, and installation environment. Obtain a model-specific confirmation where available.
